Changing of the guard at Fannie Mae Multifamily
As many of you have heard, Michele Evans is taking over as head of Multifamily and I am assuming a new enterprise-wide role as Chief Administrative Officer.
Michele is a seasoned leader and her knowledge of our business is unparalleled. In her nearly 30 years at Fannie Mae, she’s held positions across the spectrum of Fannie Mae Multifamily, and I know she’s eager to bring all that knowledge to bear as leader. Although it’s been said too often, these are unprecedented times, and they call for strong, visionary leadership. I am confident that Michele is the right person for the job at the right time. I’m also happy that she will be serving on the Management Committee, where her insight and passion will help drive enterprise strategy and priorities for the good of the DUS® network and the communities we serve.
As for me, my new role has a broad scope, including human resources, enterprise workplace, and diversity and inclusion. I will also continue to guide the company’s work to make affordable housing accessible to everyone. I’ll also continue to oversee Fannie Mae’s work on green financing, which began in Multifamily and has grown into a major focus for the whole enterprise on becoming a globally recognized leader for our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.
As I reflect on my eight years in Multifamily, I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished together. Our risk-sharing model leads the industry for a reason – it’s good business, good stewardship, and good for the housing market. The DUS Network is powered equally by shared risk and the combined excellence of the professionals at our lender shops and internally. I’ll be cheering you all on to finance another 10 million units – and holding you accountable for meeting and exceeding our affordable goals. I look forward to hearing all about it from Michele.
Best,
Jeffery Hayward
