Michele M. Evans is Fannie Mae’s Executive Vice President and Head of Multifamily, reporting to the President. She is responsible for all of the company's multifamily business functions. Fannie Mae's Multifamily Division is the leading source of financing and securitization for quality rental housing in the United States, in every market, for every income level, every day. Multifamily serves a wide spectrum of the market, including conventional, rent-restricted, cooperatives, seniors, student housing, and manufactured housing communities, and finances all loan sizes, from a $1 million single-asset loan to a $1 billion structured transaction facility. Fannie Mae's multifamily business is executed through a Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS®) lender network and is the only risk-sharing model in the country. She began serving in this role in August 2020.
Most recently, Ms. Evans was Senior Vice President and Multifamily Chief Operating Officer for Fannie Mae, reporting to the Executive Vice President and Head of Multifamily. She was responsible for daily operations for the business including strategy, technology & data initiatives, business transformation, product management & development, securitization initiatives, credit risk transfers, and modeling analytics. Additionally, she oversaw day-to-day operations of the division, including middle office, budgeting and reporting, corporate initiatives, and strategic initiatives.
Previously, Ms. Evans was responsible for multifamily production, DUS® relationship management, multifamily marketing and communications, and multifamily corporate obligations. She also managed the Sales and Marketing team; led the Negotiated Transactions team; and was part of the original team that built and managed MFlex® business, a substantial generator of small loan debt activity.
Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 1992, Ms. Evans was Vice President of Commercial Real Estate at Hunter and Associates. She also has held the positions of Vice President of Finance at GMD Corporation and Vice President at DRG Financial Corporation.
Ms. Evans has a Bachelor of Science in Finance, with honors, from the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
