Access to affordable housing in America continues to be a challenge for many people. That's why we launched the Sustainable Communities Innovation Challenge (The Challenge). This initiative will generate innovative ideas that will help us address the affordable housing crisis in America and further support our broad mission to create housing opportunities that are sustainable and affordable. Specifically, The Challenge is a two-year, $10 million investment by Fannie Mae to generate affordable housing solutions that will help us address the nation's affordable housing issues by advancing sustainable communities, which provide residents opportunities for employment, health and wellness, and education.

This is where you come in. We need your help! Over the next two years, we will support innovative ideas through partnerships and funding for research, planning, idea development, and marketing. When you accept The Challenge, you get the chance to help us turn innovation into action by helping Fannie Mae advance thriving communities and address our nation's housing needs.

The Challenge is a three-phase initiative. During the first phase, which launched December 18, 2017 and accepts submissions through February 23, we're seeking proposals that focus on the intersection of affordable housing and economic opportunity. To support The Challenge, we recently announced an Expert Advisory Panel to help us evaluate the ideas received.

If you're interested in submitting a proposal, or know someone who might and can help us spread the word, visit The Challenge to learn more. Please register here to attend our webinar on January 30, at 2 p.m. ET.

Thanks again for your support.

Best,

Maria
