Last month, we gathered in Scottsdale, AZ to network, share strategies and opportunities, and celebrate our success together. The MF LIVE! Multifamily Affordable Housing Seminar had something for everyone. We’ll be bringing several of these sessions to webinars in the coming months, but in the meantime, let’s recap.

Business Update & MAH Strategy

$6 billion in production in 2018 is something to celebrate!

This milestone marks another record year for multifamily affordable production – and an increase in production for the fifth year in a row! And, that is a direct result of our partnership with all of you. The strength of the Fannie Mae platform allows us to have the most flexibility and creativity in the business. Our focus in 2019 will continue to be our mission to provide quality affordable housing and we look forward to:

  • Maximizing the customer experience
  • Streamlining the process
  • Providing the best products and helping you combine them to create even more benefits
  • Promoting the work we do together

We’ve spent the last year staffing up to ensure that we deliver superior customer service and introduced the whole team to those in attendance. We also highlighted efforts we will implement in 2019 to provide training and job aids on products and technology to help you know your options and maximize your proceeds. The right team is in place to respond quickly and help you structure winning deals.
You heard from our officers – Charles Ostroff, Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer; Bob Simpson, Vice President, Affordable and Green Financing; and Chris Flynn, Vice President, Credit Underwriting. They talked about how affordable fits into our overall strategy – and how Duty to Serve provides guidance and opportunity for our work.


During the affordable market update, we shared information on some of the markets to look to for affordable housing opportunities including:

  • Affordable Preservation in LIHTC, Section 8 and USDA Section 515
  • Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD)
  • New Construction
  • Special Public Purpose

Other Highlights & Training Opportunities

Two major highlights were “Selling Scenarios” and “Getting to Yes...Faster.” Our deal teams provided key information on M.TEB Immediates and Forwards, 40-year Amortization, Green Rewards and Healthy Housing Rewards®. And, they provided some key tips to help you get to “Yes” when you submit your next deal.
We know that not everyone was able to make it to Scottsdale. But, that does not mean that you missed your chance to hear these great presentations! We’re going to offer these sessions via webinars in the coming months. And don’t miss the Green Road show with the first location in Dallas on April 10.
